Are you experiencing knee pain, stiffness, swelling or difficulty moving your knee?
These may be signs of knee osteoarthritis, a common condition that occurs when the cartilage in the knee joint gradually wears down. If left untreated, knee pain can become worse and may affect everyday activities such as walking, standing, climbing stairs, squatting or kneeling.

What Is a Knee X-Ray?
A knee X-ray is a simple imaging test that takes pictures of the bones inside your knee. It allows our Orthopaedic Surgeon to check the condition of your knee joint and look for signs of osteoarthritis, such as changes in the joint space or bone structure.
The X-ray can show the main bones that make up the knee, including the kneecap (patella), thigh bone (femur), and shin bone (tibia).
Common Signs of Knee Osteoarthritis
You may have knee osteoarthritis if you experience:
Knee pain or aching
Stiffness, especially after resting
Swelling around the knee
Difficulty or reduced ability to move the knee
Pain when walking, climbing stairs, squatting or kneeling
Knee pain can range from mild discomfort during strenuous activities to more severe pain that occurs even while resting. When knee pain starts affecting your daily activities and quality of life, it may be time to seek medical advice.
