Therapy Radiology

Clinical

Support radiotherapy treatment, patient set-up, planning and radiation safety standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Treat patients undergoing radiotherapy in accordance with the treatment plan and dose prescription of the Consultant Clinical Oncologist, including operation of a linear accelerator.
  • Responsible for patient set-up and radiation dose delivery including patient care.
  • Report any suspected equipment malfunction immediately to the Unit Manager, Head of Planning and QA, Division Director or Consultant Clinical Oncologist.
  • Ensure cleanliness of treatment rooms and machine accessories, including changing linen.
  • Organise the daily routine treatment schedule, doctors’ review for patients on treatment and planning schedule for new patients.
  • Assist the Consultant Clinical Oncologist in simulation for radiotherapy treatment of new patients, including virtual simulation, computerized treatment planning systems, manual dose calculation, portal films, electronic portal imaging and image guided techniques.
  • Make thermoplastic masks for patients having head and neck treatments and assist with immobilisation or positioning devices when required.
  • Fulfil statutory requirements governing the safe use of radiation by observing all local rules and professional standards.
  • Maintain accurate patient treatment records.
  • Be pleasant, courteous and polite to patients and relatives.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients and convey instructions from the Consultant Clinical Oncologist regarding patient care.
  • Assist patients who are not ambulatory as and when required.
  • Assist in specialised radiotherapy procedures.
  • Make photocopies of treatment sheets, simulation sheets and charging sheets.
  • Ensure treatment machines are switched off at the end of the day, keys are removed and kept in a safe place.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all medical records.
  • Exercise courtesy at all times.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Unit Manager, Division Director, Medical Director or Management.

Requirement

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Radiotherapy.
  2. Evidence of planning or CT experience will be an added advantage.

Pharmacy Assistant

Pharmacy
