Your doctor may recommend Strontium-89 therapy if you:
- Have cancer that has spread to multiple bones (bone metastases)
- Experience persistent or widespread bone pain
- Continue to have pain despite pain medications
- Are not suitable for, or have already received, external beam radiotherapy to multiple painful sites
- Have adequate blood counts and kidney function, as determined by your doctor
Strontium-89 is intended to relieve bone pain and improve comfort. It is not a cure for cancer, but it can help many patients reduce pain and improve daily activities.
