Dr Lai Yan Chen is a Consultant Anaesthesiologist & Critical Care specialist at Beacon Hospital. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Australia, along with a Master of Medicine in Anaesthesiology (MMed Anaes).

With clinical experience in anaesthesia and critical care, Dr Lai Yan Chen is involved in perioperative management, patient monitoring, and support in complex medical procedures. His scope of practice includes anaesthesia care, pain management support, and critical care services in hospital settings.

In addition to his clinical role, Dr Lai Yan Chen is actively involved in medical education and professional activities. He is a Member of the Master Programme in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). He also serves as an Instructor for Simulation-Based Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anaesthesia at Hospital Pengajar Universiti Putra Malaysia (HPUPM), contributing to the training of healthcare professionals.

Dr Lai Yan Chen has also participated in awareness and educational initiatives, including serving as Chairman for World Anaesthesia Day and World Sepsis Day programmes at HPUPM.

He is able to communicate with patients in Bahasa Melayu, English, Hokkien, and Mandarin, supporting effective communication across diverse patient groups.
