This programme is valid from 20 October 2026 to 30 November 2026.
Applicable to individuals aged 50 years and above who have never undergone a REMS or DEXA scan, or who have previously undergone a DEXA scan at least three (3) years prior to the current scan.
Includes a REMS scan (hip & lumbar spine), MO Consultation, report printout and hospital registration fee.
Excludes a CD, follow-up consultation, and any additional tests, medications, or procedures (if applicable).
Reports will be available within five (5) working days from the screening date. Kindly note that same-day requests cannot be accommodated.
Applicable for self-pay customers only.
Non-Malaysian citizens are subject to 6% SST, to be verified and paid at the counter before screening.

A bone health assessment provides information that may help you and your doctor discuss bone health and potential fracture risk. Your doctor can advise which assessment is appropriate for your individual circumstances.

What Is REMS Scan?

REMS stands for Radiofrequency Echographic Multi-Spectrometry. It is a non-invasive ultrasound-based technology that analyses signals from the hip and lumbar spine to estimate bone density and provide additional information relevant to bone health assessment.

What Happens During a REMS Scan?

A healthcare professional uses a specialised ultrasound device to assess the hip and lumbar spine. The procedure is generally painless, and fasting is not required. You may eat and drink as usual before your appointment. Your package also includes a printed report and consultation with a Medical Officer.

Who Is Eligible for the RM89 Promotion?

This promotion is for self-paying individuals aged 50 and above who meet either of these conditions:

Have never undergone a REMS or DEXA scan; or
Have previously undergone a DEXA scan at least three (3) years before the current assessment.

Advance appointment booking is required.

Who May Not Be Eligible?

Based on the campaign criteria, the promotion is not available to:

Individuals who have undergone a DEXA scan within the past three years.
Pregnant women.
Individuals with metal implants or other anatomical or technical factors at the measurement site that may interfere with the assessment.

No. Fasting is not required. You may eat and drink as usual before your scan.

The scan is generally painless and non-invasive. It does not involve injections or X-rays.

The scan takes approximately 20 minutes. Please allow additional time for registration and consultation.

The report will be provided via email in softcopy format by default. If you would like a hardcopy, you may request one during the phone consultation. The hardcopy report will be prepared for collection in person at the Health Screening Centre, with no additional charges.

The report will be ready within 5 working days after the REMS scan. MO will conduct a phone consultation and send the softcopy of the report via email.

REMS uses ultrasound to assess bone health, while DEXA uses low-dose X-rays to measure bone density. Your doctor can advise which type of assessment is most appropriate for you.

REMS provides information about bone density and related bone health parameters that can support clinical assessment. Your doctor will interpret the findings alongside other relevant information and advise whether additional investigations are needed.

No. REMS is used for bone health assessment; it is not a test to diagnose cancer. Further investigations may be recommended if clinically indicated.
