Did you know? Parts of the chest wall—ribs, muscle, and skin—can be removed and safely rebuilt to treat tumours, trauma, or severe infections. When more than two ribs are removed, titanium plates and a back muscle called the LD (Latissimus dorsi) flap are used to reconstruct the chest wall.
