What is Arthroplasty surgery?
Arthroplasty surgery is a surgical procedure to restore the function of a joint, either by reshaping the bones or replacing it with artificial joint made of metal, plastic or ceramic. The damaged joint is removed during the surgery, and the artificial joint also known as prosthesis is implanted in its place.
The artificial joint is designed to mimic the natural movement of the joint, allowing for improved mobility and reduced pain.
Arthroplasty surgery is commonly used to treat osteoarthritis, with others like osteonecrosis, joint injuries and other conditions that cause pain, stiffness and limited mobility.
